Try to see if the AP is beaconing.
Run a WEP cracker - see how long it takes to crack encryption - Takes me three days - it gives you an idea how often to alter your WEP key and SSID if you needed to.
Runa signal strength package n conjunction with searching for channels used around you - you may need to change your broadcast channel if others in your area use the same channel.
There are many more but try those first.

Beacon frames will be sent out by your AP if it's in Infrastructure mode. Disabling the SSID in those frames is a good first step for securing your WLAN. Won't stop the pesky. SSID's can still be sniffed. Cracking WEP depends on your traffic so cracking your own key in an average use period isn't a bad idea. Using WPA capable wireless gear would be a better solution. How familiar are you with Linux? Netstumbler is like using Windows Paint for picture editing. VERY basic software.

Yeah Im afraid all the best cracking software is available mostly to unix/linux boys - its not the donwload and use it brigade , you need to compile , link and create the code yourself - No script Kiddies here - One of the many areas in which Linux excels!!!

Netstumbler is exactly as Kw says - basic with a capital B.

You can try reducing thepower output on your devices - this will give it less coverage and interception therefore.

I know you can with Cisco stuff butthen they are the best!!!
