Hi all,

well my boss wants me to create a new user name for him as he has been running under "Administrator" forever. I guess somebody told him it wasn't safe or something.

At any rate, the problem in this is that although I can get his settings in the new uder accnt identical to his setup in "Admin" (or at least as near as possible), he wants all his stored info from Outlook 2002 including contacts, e-mails and calendar to be present under the new user.

Not only do I not know how to do this, but i've read that it's often times difficult to move info from the admin accnt to a non-admin accnt.

So my real question is this: is it really all that bad to be running under the "admin" user?

Backround info -> Win2k pro w/ sp4

Our office contains two machines (his and mine) and we're on dial-up (not only that but since we have 1 phone line, we're not online that much)

Now, if it's not that good an idea to be running under Administrator, I would appreciate any help in regards to moving his Outlook info to the new user.

Thanks guys..

If it is only the 2 of you and you're not connected to the outside world constantly don't sweat it.
Your boss may be disappointed in his/her new "power user" account abilities if he/she has grown acustomed to admin capabilities.
If your boss is simply hung up on the admin account being name "administrator" - just rename it. Why this sudden change of heart? Your exposure to being "hacked" is very limited... believe me noone is looking to take over 56K. users, although you can obviously still contract a virus, spyware, and/or trojans through email or downloads.
Again, If your running an up to date virus protection program your exposure is very limited. Best of luck :t

LOL Bill!! That's the first thing I thought of doing when the bossman brought this change to me.

Thanks guys, I didn't really think his machine would be more vulnerable to anything but I guess one of his buddies told him otherwise...

I'll bring this up to him and see what he says..

And thanks Swordfish.. that link is perfect (in case boss still wants to go through with this :rolleyes: )

As always, you guys rock..
