Hi there
I was wondering, what kind of heatsink can I use with my socket 7 cpu. I mean, will a socket-a or socket-370 heatsink fit my socket-7?
Thanks
Vangelis
you are trying to save $20 or less on something that will not only boost the system processor performance - but keep it from frying ...... think about that.....
go buy a heat sink specifically for your model of processor and buy a small tube of thermal paste as well. This isn't something to try to recycle when you have the means to pick up the right one.
In some cases, I'd say yes if the clamps work - but in most cases I'd say what you're talking about is a really bad idea..... The risk is too high for only saving $15 or $20 dollars.

The problem is that here in Greece the stores have completely forgot the SS7 cpu's. Some of the "experts" don't know that AMD had older CPU's than Duron or Athlon. So It is completely impossible to find a heatsink designed for my K6-2. I want to upgrade from my big but generic heatsink.
I will give it a try to find one on an on-line shop that ships it to greece.
Thanks anyway

Go ahead and buy a HSF designed for Duron/T-bird. Even though some of them will be overkill for K6-2, it will give you a chance to use them when in future you decide to upgrade. I have been using FOP32-I with my K6-3+ 450@632 cpu for past year w/o any problems, in fact just bought another HSF designed for socket-a for another K6-2+ system I am building from here:
