Just a question for users who like to optimise their system with reference to the services this time.

Has anyone noticed whether the Background Intelligent Transfer Service does actually enhance network access at all - Ive done a few internet transfer tests and some tests on an actual lan and to be honest it seems like another service that isnt needed

In some cases particularly small file transfer it actually reduces thruput. Not sure whether this service depends on whether the NIC has the added features to take advantage of it>

Tests were done with 1512 byte , 10mb , 700mb file sizes...

Seems it only works for downloads in XP???

Some scary reading here - If you upgraded to XP this may prove the cause of some network problems or services taking too long to load with BITS.

Different subject - BITS has its own API and integrates with apps that are written for that API.

QOS is related to guaranteed bandwidth and services over network ie server2k's media streaming services.

Is the qos similar to that in GPL?
