Im looking for a minimum 8 port GIGABIT SWITCH and 5 GIGABIT ethernet network cards..

I was doing a bit of research and Im planning to get:

1 x Linksys EG008W (http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?prid=529)
5 x D-Link DGE-500T (http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=124)

Total cost around $600 CAD ($420 USD)..

Anyone have any other recommendations?? I saw other ethernet gigabit cards but they're like $50-$100 more.. I really know NOTHING about networking hardware, so I dont know what's good.. Probably the most expensive is the best..

Should I stick with what's listed above or get some other brands like INTEL or 3COM or TRENDNET?? THANKS GUYS!

Why Gigabit - waste of money - even a home user doesnt use the full capacity of a 100mbps card!!!

What are you planning on linking up - some form of nuclear accelarator?
:D

Seriously when so many companies are running on 100 quite satisfactorily why would you want to use gig - unless you have a couple of hundred pc's or some weird comms link you need Gig for???

unless this is like serious, "find cure for cancer" deal. i cant imagine why you need this.
