I have this motherboard connected using the Nvidia lan, and am having good results with one exception. When playing games (role playing like Dark Age of Camelot,Morrowwind) I am experiencing a LOT of lag.
The computer (along with another pc) is connected to a router (Linksys 4 port). I have connected (to run the games) with the other pc (that uses a Linksys ethernet card) and everything seems to run fine.
As suggested in another thread I have changed the settings for this port to "throughput" instead of "cpu". Have aslo set the Dr. TCP as stated in another thread.
After making these adjustments, the lag is still really bad. Could someone please help. I am a n00b at computing so please keep it simple. Thanks and have a good day.:t

Just did that Jack and still nothing changed. Just for a test I took the Linksys ethernet card out of another pc, hooked it up (disabled both on board high speed connections), and still have tons of lag. When playing the game went to task manager and the thing said that CPU was at 100% (graph was pegged out). Do not know if this is accurate? Any ideas?

In task manager check the processes tab, which poces sis taking up the most CPU time, if its the game itself than i would say that your CPU aint quick enough to run it at a comfortable rate. If however its another process check for spyware nasties with spybot and adaware and do a full virus scan, if it keeps persisiting then drop out to taskmanger every game and kill the other process thats taking up your resources

Ok will try and look at that.
I know the newer machine (which is the one I am having trouble with) has plenty of horsepower to run the game (the older pc that is connected to the router does just fine and is not as fast as this one).
New machine
windows xp
1gig pc3200 ram OCZ
Asus a7n8c deluxe mb
Athlon xp 2500 + barton core
ATI Radeon 9700
Sata WD "Raptor" 40 gig hd
Old machine
1gig pc 2700 Corsair
Abit KT7-333
Athlon xp 1800
GEForce 4 Ti 4200
WD 40 gig Hd
I will go back through the post above and see if maybe I missed something, but can only think that is must be something to do with the motherboard.
Do you think switching out the RAM and trying another set of RAM would show any difference?
One other thing, when I control, alt, delete the older machine does not have any tabs on the box (the newer one does).
Thanks for any help you can give, very frustrating when someone that has limited knowledge (like me) runs into these kinds of problems. Make me kinda wish I would have bought a machine... but then would have paid 3 times the cost and lost the oportunity to learn something:t
