CAN ANYONE HELP ME??
Im looking for a motherboard that supports 2 AMD chips.
I also need it to support SD-RAM memory cards.
My old pc was slow so i decided it was time to upgrade. I am planning to put in two chips whose total would give me a speed of 3ghz or greater. Doing it this way seems more cost effective to me than buying a 3ghz chip and putting it in a single slot board. Plus by getting this motherboard, future upgrades will only require upgrading the processors one at a time.
The only reason why i need the motherboard to include sd-ram slots is because i currently have a 512mb sd-ram card the i would like to put into the computer.
If anyone has any suggestions i would be glad to hear them.
Unless you have applications that specifically support dual processors, you're wasting your time and money. Two 1.5 GHz chips don't give you the performance of a single 3 GHz chip!

I agree, it's a complete waste of time and money unless you're heavily into 3d or video editing work. Plus you'd never find one that uses SDRAM. Go for a 3GHz+ Intel chip if you've got the cash, otherwise a AMD Barton 2500+.

Whats been said, its not worth it.
If your going AMD get the following
Epox 8rda+ v2.0
2x512mb Crucial PC3200
AMD Athlon 3000XP
That will give you great performance plus plenty of headroom for overclocking the CPU

Money wasted for those who are just desktop users but I could see some corporations jumping for them...
Anyways....if you really want it get good Athlon MP chips or go the next step and get two Opterons any Tyan Motherboard...

You must have 2 matching cpus if you want to run in dual mode. you can run singles, but you cannot run 2 dissimilar cpus in SMP mode.
get a new board and cpu. just take the plunge into DDR also. You'll be spending way more money for a dual board.

AMD's aging dual CPU chipsets do not support SDRAM.

Dual procs are waay overrated for home use. Like fishybawb said you will not recieve 3 gigs only more room at the 1.5 range. The busses are only so big.

which is exactly what i did not want to do but ah well....
Bigjakkstaffa
i checked out the motherboard and i would go with it except that it does no support my current sdrm 512mb card
and i want to include it in my new system
so i will now have to look for a great motherboard that supports amdand possibly has 2 sdram slot and 2 ddr
it does not necessarily have to have ddr but it seems like it is repaceling sdram.

ECS K7S5A Pro - supports both DDR and SDRAM.

Your seriously limiting youself in terms of quality, performance and general modern-ness to motherboards by stickin with SDRAM.
Also, if your planning to run at above 1.5Ghz you will benefit from DDR-RAM.
Good quality stuff can be had fairly cheaply, such as the Crucial i mentioned earlier, which is excellent quality at a cheap price whether it be Pc2100/PC2700/PC3200.
Either way, by sticking to SDRAM your seriously limiting your options, DDR is the standard now and RAM prices being what they are, it woudl be daft not to make the jump up

im not trying to stick with sdrambut the thing is that i have a perfectly good 512mb card and i dont want to just throw it away...so i am looking for a board that con support both that way i keep my current card and am able to buy the more "modern" ddr ram
but so far it seems like i will be going with the ECS K7S5A Pro

well i check out the specs for the K7S5A Pro
and its not what i was looking for. it does not seem to support ddr and sdram...its either or plus its max is 1gb. I want my min to be 1 gb
it looks like i will just have to toss out my 512mb chip and buy another ddr 512mb chip :(

IThat really is quite waste, going for (fairly) old hardware for the sake of one stick of ram, especially given that RAM is currently in one of its cheap periods. If you dont want to waste it then put it in an older machine or even better sell it to someone

Just read your above post there and i must say, good, you'll be better off for it.
BTW no motherboard can run both SDRAM and DDR at the same time, its impossdible, its either one or the other
Now, go and get youself a nice fast CPU, an Nforce 2 motherboard and 2x256 or 2x512mb or PC3200 DDR, you'll thank yourself for it

Epox 8rda+ v2.0
and just toss the old chip in some other pc

If you cant go for the XP3000+ then the 2500+ is just as good and will overclock to 2.2Ghz (Xp3200+) with minimal effort with reported overclocks of in excess of 2.4Ghz being commonplace, plus its quite a cheap bit of kit. In fact in terms of price, overclockability and performance your probably better off going for the 2500+ rather than the Xp3000+

You'll pay under $200 for the Barton 2500+ and an A7N8X mobo at newegg. A gig of DDR 400 from Crucial will cost another $200.
BTW, I have the K7S5A PRO and It has nothing for options... exept this cool power-on-password function... which is very useless.
And Ebay would love to have your old RAM.
