Backup and Restore MBR

How do i back up and restore my MBR. I am dual booting windows 98 and mandrake 8 and LILO got corrupt or something and would hang at "LI.." So, i fdisk'ed the MBR with a 98 boot disk so the system would boot and have been using a boot disk to get to linux. How do i recreate the MBR and then back it and restore it whne it happens again

You know I have had similar problems with Mandrake 8. You might want to try installing GRUB instead of LILO as boot loader but this is no guaranty that it will work. I have one particular install of Mandrake where the whole boot loader thing appears to be broken and I am using LILO installed by SuSE 7.2.
