I have a D-link DI-614+ Router that has a built in firewall. I also have UPNP enabled on my computers. Is it possible that I could have the worm? or would my firewall have blocked it? Any help appreciated thank you :)

Memize,

If you have the Blaster worm, you'd know it - a few normal moments, and then an alarming message about a shutdown. If you are worried about SOBIG.F, I think you'd know it by checking your Sent Items (Outlook Express) for outgoing messages you know you didn't send. In either case, just make sure you have the latest MS patch. (Speaking of which, it's hard to get at windowsupdate lately).

Behind a router, with proper admin/password setup (not just the default), you should be ok. Test your connection at http://grc.com/default.htm, where you can test your firewall (Shields Up), and incidentally, learn quite a bit about network security. BTW, Gibson does not have favorable things to say about UPNP.

Hope this helps.

Spam sent by a worm or trojan will not show in Sent items, actually. The bug has it's own SMTP program.

No one that I know who has a router has been hit by MSBlaster.

Gibson is great at self-promotion. He has some valid points, but he's always yelling and that gives me a headache. :(

Wow! Its own SMTP code. I didn't know that. Thanks! I guess it was a matter of time before these things evolved. Can't even imagine what's next...

As far as Gibson is concerned, well, I've neither met nor seen the man, so can't judge gloryhound or not. But I have learned quite a bit from his writing. The programs he has are pretty cool, especially to amateurs like me.
