Whats with the sharp boarders? New look, bug in the pages?

Ok, everybody post their vote here.. I decided to add the borders but I don't have to keep them.

I prefer the old look. Less sterile. /forum/smile.gif

I vote old style too... less "busy".

I prefer the "Old" look also, I supposed I'm just more used to it.

Voting about this? Nothing like democracy /forum/smile.gif.

I like the new look better than the old one.

New!

(Sysopt. Before entering name and password once a session was enough, now it is for each reply. Bug or by design?) ~edit: seems okay now, must be intermittent..

New!

(Counts as three votes?)

New!

So far it's 5 to 4 in favor of the old look, keep the votes coming in /forum/smile.gif.

Bleeding edge: not sure why the cookies aren't working for you. They are for me. Are you viewing the regular domain name version of the site, or do you see the IP? Some DNS servers haven't updated yet with the new IP and thus, the old server is redirecting some people to the new IP, which the UBB doesn't like to assign cookies to I guess.

Old. The lines are less tidy and kind of redundent. The old style was actually more intuitive looking. You may lose new posters, especially beginners who are easily intimidated by complicated looking software.

I vote for the old look. As Roy said, the new look is too sterile. Old, old, old!

KillerBug

Old, these new lines seem sterile, unfriendly, boxy.

Right now: equal!(if you do not count posts like, "New, New, New!")

The borders seem to separate us in a manner that feels divisive. - 8-Ball

I'm afraid I'd have to say old... The new borders look nice, but they don't really fit in.

I don't care for the new lines. It looks like they are there because someone wanted to see if they could do it. After they discovered they could, they forgot to change back.

All I can say is I like it NOW! I haven't been here that long (though I am here three or four times a day!) The cookies work for me every time.

This is my favorite board(s) on the 'net. Better info, better people, and easy to find your threads. I also love the e-mail notification for responces! :-)

All I can say is I love it - it works for me just like it is!

Good Luck In All,

Mike P.

I like the new lines, they cost nothing in download time and make the site look better.

/forum/biggrin.gif to see the previous (not pre-UBB) look has returned. Perhaps some other tailoring ~ font? color? background? ~ is worth the same exploration.

The current "softer" grey lines are a perfect balance - and a good compromise! (IMHO)

Dominus
08-23-1999, 11:32 AM
I agree completely. Definately the best of both worlds.

With so many changes over the years I've learned to adapt to whatever the Admin decides. Do what easiest for the stucture /forum/wink.gif
If it was up to me...I would have never learned UBB /forum/wink.gif

I too vote for the "softer Grey lines". The other way was too harsh.

Hey Stan let's keep it fair the old way is best but let's not go over board, they'll be accussing the the old style supporters of buying drinks for votes next! /forum/wink.gifhave a nice day and if admin keeps it the new way we will have to live with it, it's still the best d**m help site around /forum/smile.gif

Stan

Yep... I do agree: this is the "best d**m help site around"...

I have to admit that the soft grey lines look OK...

Nice day to you too

i like the old way better. i would like not to see appearence changes for the next 10-20-50 years. change only if is absolutely necessary (in order to grow.)

GB - I knew what you meant - it was just one of my lame attempts at humor (heh) ... and thank you for the compliment, but I can't see it compared to some of you guys and gals around here. I learn from y'all every day! /forum/smile.gif

Hey you get to a stage when counting the new grey hairs gets beyond because they get to the point you can't find the original color, but we all have to change with the times or we be useing 300/75 modems on the site.
