Dont what this is all about. But my friends PC shows the file size as correct on his PC, but on his FTP any thing over 2 gig's shows as like 950 MB and if he zips the file it corrupts it ? Any ideas what would do this, if he sends files one at a time they are fine ?

if i remember old ftp doesnt show anything over 1gb?
do you mean trying to zip the 950mb file - ie compress it on the hard disk then sending it via ftp?

when does it corrupt -> when you send it?

operating system?

are you talking about winzip or pkzip?

Sorry folks just checked in.. Okay he is running winxp pro, the ftp s/w is smartftp, i can look at the files on his ftp and they read way smaller than they are. He says he zips the files on his HD then when he checks the zip archive it is corrupt . He first sent me a zip which i opened and it only said half the files that showed up in the zip were really there. This is a strange one for sure. Think he made to format to get rid of this wierd problem, but he dont want to unless he has no other choose, ohh he is useing winzip... Oops forgot to tell you he tried sending zipped file to me useing dcc in chat room also and zip was as explained above. Fubared :)

I take it you are using winzip - remove and reinstall it.
Try a different archiver say arj and see if that has problems.

If it happens with more than one archiver then it will probably be a dodgy hard disk or a virus.
