Hello,
At home I subscribe to many alt. newsgroups. Now that I am at college, when I try and tell Outlook Express to access the newsgroups it tells me that it can't switch to the newsgroup at news.starpower.net (at home I use starpower). So how do I make these newsgroups work?

You have to use the school's news servers. Ask someone.

The school don't got no news servers apparently (or at least that the people who are accessable know of). Are there any good third party newsservers?

the firewall is probably set to deny newsgroups (port 119) as they are the source of a lot of naughty stuff!!! there are ways around it but we cant mention em but my advice would be to check the IT guys out , invite em out for lunch a beer and a packet of Regal Kingsize and I bet they could arrange for small shuffle of their ACL....its called social engineering and it gets more results than other methods/....
