I spoke (http://sysopt.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=143460) to soon about my latest Bios update going smoothly. I have not been able to get my video working correctly. I notice some lines and errors on my screen (all the time- games, office apps, and desktop) after the bios update. There is a black box that follows the mouse around and appears only in places where text can be entered- in all apps, I cannot play any games because there are solid lines every where. So I D/Led the latest Catalyst for my 9500 pro, but that did not help. I tried the last 4 Catalyst driver releases after uninstalling each one in Safe mode-I tired reinstalling Direct X 9.0

Nothing seems to work and it started the second after the Bios Upgrade. Soooooooooo, should I find an older version of the bios and try to flash back to a 2/2/03 Bios release?
Thanks for the continued help!
I have an MSI KT3 6380 ARU Version 1.0 with the latest Bios—
Win XP Pro
XP 2000
Radeon 9500 Pro
512 Crucial 2700
Antec 430
4 Drives, CD and CD/DVD burner.

I am getting a new Mobo and Barton from newegg, so when that arrives I will be taking this 9500 out and using it in the new system. I will replace it with a Guillemot Max Gamer 32. Should I try that card fist to see if that cures the problem?

I doubt it's the BIOS, but you can easily flash it back.

I would suspect the card or the drivers. Try VGA mode. Uninstall the video drivers and reinstall. Most importantly, clear CMOS. Update the 4in1 drivers.

I am using the same motherboard with the same BIOS and it's fine.

I did install the 4 in 1immedialy after the problem started—no luck. I will try clearing the CMOS tonight—and let you know how that works—

Thanks

Well, clearing CMOS after a BIOS update is always recommended. ;)

I believe the ASUS aflash utility directs you to reset to BIOS defaults immediately after flashing the BIOS. Definitely good advice.
