I currently have a Geforce 2 MX 200 PCI. I might be able to get a Voodoo 3 or 4 PCI for free (or a VERY small fee). Would it be an upgrade to make a switch from an MX 200 to a Voodoo 3 or 4?

Thanxs

P.S. I'm pretty sure the Voodoo 5 PCI out performs the MX 200, so if I see one I will definatly get that. ;)

It really depends what computer you have and what games you are going to play on it.

I have had a Voodoo 3 before and it was very good for my old computer and games like Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament. So if you want to play games like that, a Voodoo 3 or 4 should be slightly better than your Geforce 2 MX200.

I upgraded from a voodoo 3 2000 to a geforce 2 mx400,thinking i'd get better frame rates.....it was worse.I then realised most of my games were optimized for glide(3dfx) so i went back to my voodoo3 and later voodoo 4 .....untill i started getting newer(direct3d) games(then back to the geforce2 and now geforce 4) The voodoos now sit in their boxes.

I mostly play games like RTCW, Diablo II, Rouge Spear, etc. I was looking for a card to give me better performance in the future for games like Dues Ex 2, Homeworld 2, and The Sims 2 untill I can get my Radeon 9100 or Geforce 5200 FX in January. Would the Voodoo 4 4500 give better peformance in those games?
