I know I've seen it somewhere but when?
Seems such a simple thing but....
I want to use an old P 75 as a server mainly for downloads and temp. storage but it picks up the 450 Mb HD but wont even look at a 2.1 Gb or a 1.6 Gb.
I think I have an old Diskwizard floppy somewhere but is that what I need?
The machine has a small MOBO marked AB-PB4 and the P75 is in a Socket 3.
Is it 'doable' or shall I just try with the 450 Mb?

Ah well, now then.
I have sorted things out re the ID of the BIOS and been on to good old Wim and sent the BIOS report in. Hopefully they can point me in the right direction.
I'm going to browse round Wim's site and see if I can match thibgs up now I have full details. That BIOS Agent software is superb. Just stuck it on a floppy and opened it up in the P 75 and it did me a full check which I then put inmto a text file and sent on.
Thank you for sending me the right way.

Are you trying to add the larger drive, as a slave if you are on some older computers, you may have to go into the BIOS setup and change the settings for the HD to be seen.
The Master might shown as AUTO, for the computer to see the other HD you may have to set the IDE Primary Slave: AUTO.
Depending on where you connect the drive, if you have set the HD to the Secondary Master it should be set same as above.
One other thing to check would be the jumper’s on the HD's that they are correct.
Good Luck

my wd hdd came with a disk to fix the disk size limitations in 95/98...didn't use it b/c it was being put on an XP machine, but i'd assume that it would work in your case

I really want to use a couple of 2 Gb plus drives. Someone had lent me their copy of Disk Manager to try out. If it's OK I'll get my own.
The BIOS and the jumper settings are no problem and I am told I don't need to 'Flash' my bios if DM works OK.
Wish me luck this weekend. I shall be confined to quarters 'cos the Reading Rock Festival is on here. The crumblies are arriving as I write.
My word, you do see some sights when you haven't got your camera!!!
What is so scary is that youngsters come pouring out of Daddy or Mummy's Bentley, Merc or Lexus dresssed in grunge clothing. Parental limo glides off to wherever and will probably come back on Monday to pick up their little darlings, still stoned and covered with mud.
Ah the days of my lost youth.
If you are overseas, think of Woodstock with attitude?
