Here's an email I received from my boss: http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

We are benchmarking storage needs and network speeds. To get good estimates, we need the standard file sizes for images in digital libraries (that is what size and image formats are used in production
quality digital libraries)? Also, what are the sizes per minutes for the leading digital video formats and resolutions? It will be helpful to have a variety of times and formats here.

Unfortunately he's out of town right now, and I'm not even sure WHAT digital standards exist--could anyone with even a smidgen of info here help me out?

Not sure what your boss wants exactly.

Here is one place to start, http://www.cmis.csiro.au/DMIS/VideoTalk/vformat.html

Found another: http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/
