Digital camera isnt detected

Alright this person came over to set up my uncles digi camera in the usb and at first everything is working fine when the camera gets plugged in it automaticaly detects it and starts to run the included software. But now it doesnt get detected when i plug it in it does nothing. When i manually go into the software and click the camera icon it says no camera detected. This is very strange.
please help the camera is a
canon powershot A20 it plugs into the pci to usb adapter.

It was working just fine, right? Did you unhook it to take pics, and then hook it back up to get the pics?

If yours is the same as mine (Fuji camera)you connect the little cable to the camera. Check the connection at the camera for a bent pin. I ran into the same thing.

Its not the same model as your's but it sounds like it connects the same i think. I dont see any pins though and everything looks intact at the port, well this might be nothing but it looks like there might be a little crack at the port of the camera, around the edge of where the usb plugs in. I have 2 usb and plugged it in to both. I really need to fix this. so any help is appreciated. thanks

Here's how my Fujifilm works (Finepix 1300). I think all Fuji's are similar.

I turn the camera on and set the mode to playback (mode you use to view the pictures on the back of the camera). I've got the USB cable already connected to the computer. I plug the little end into the camera. Nothing appears to happen, except that if you open My Computer or Explorer, a new drive letter appears, "Removable Disk (D http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif". The same thing in reverse once I unplug it, the Removable Drive disappears.

Is that any help?

On my HP 315 camera it works the same as
JnMHayes explained.
If not try it on a different computar' to see if you get the same results.
