I just receieved a letter from FInancial AId that i have eligible to have Federal Pell Grant.

What is a Federal Pell Grant?
A Federal Pell Grant, unlike a loan, does not have to be repaid. Generally, Pell Grants are awarded only to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor's or professional degree. (A professional degree is usually earned after earning a bachelor's degree in a field such as medicine, law, or dentistry.) In some cases, you might receive a Pell Grant for attending a post-baccalaureate teacher certificate program.

Also i have receieved MassGrant which is $400 for fall, $400 for spring.

Now is there more financial aid i can get?

Anyone live in Massachusetts that have experience about this sutff plz.. reply thx.. :t

*check if they have an Army ROTC program (full scholarship)

*check http://www.staffordloan.com/
Subsidized Stafford Loans, Unsubsidized Stafford
-The first loan is subsidized. In this type of loan, the interest is paid by the federal government while you are a student
-The second is unsubsidized and the government will not pay interest during the period you are enrolled; therefore, you are responsible for paying the interest on this loan even during enrollment or it can be deferred until after you graduate or stop attending.

The subsidized loan is need-based, while the unsubsidized is not.

This year I'm getting a Pell Grant, a subsidized Stafford Loan, and an unsubsidized Stafford Loan. I'm also eligible for workstudy. This is because I'm no longer dependent (my age). In years past I only got the subsidized loan in addition to my scholarship. If I get that as well this year.... oh boy! :x

Anyways you should try and talk to someone in your school's financial aid department about what you're eligible for.

Saint Mary's wouldn't let me in!

Learn the bagpipes and get your tuition paid in the States. Worked for me :)

Is the Federal Pell Grant (which is the FAFSA) have the max amount of money that you can received? In their site http://www.ed.gov/prog_info/SFA/StudentGuide/2002-3/pell.html they said "The maximum Pell Grant for the 2002-2003 award year is $4,000" but some of my friend that received up to $5,000.

My Pell Grant is $4,050 this year. Don't know what the max is though, your school's financial aid office could give you the details.
