Current System:

AMD Athlon 600mhz (with 2 small fans)
256 meg of Ram
Creative Labs Annihilator Pro 32meg DDR
Soundblaster Live Platinum Sound Card
linksys ethernet card
8x DVD Rom
Plexwriter 8/4/32
In-Win Full size tower case
Gigabyte Ga-7ix mobo
30gig 7200rpm hd
250watt power supply

I have some issues with rebooting and lockups..whether playing intense 3d games or just surfing/multitasking apps. This would happen with ANY Operating System. After installing every OS out there, i decided to take the side of the case off (which has a fan on it). After taking it off, the reboots and lockups stopped. Therefore is must be a heat issue.

I was gonna purchase an Enermax 430 watt power supply and the Millisec Gpack III Xtreme Cu video card cooling kit for my geforce. Should i just skip buying a bigger power supply and concentrate on cooling the case? I figure the Athlon and Geforce consume quite a bit of power and the larger power supply would help.

I was considering purchasing a new ATX Motherboard. I was gonna use my current Ram and CPU, hardware, etc.. My mobo now only support up to 2x AGP for the vid card. My card goes to 4x i believe, therefore i'm not using my vid card to its full potential. Any recommendations on a mobo (decently priced)? If it were inexpensive i could purchase a Mobo/CPU combo. Any input would be great.

Also, as my case only has that one fan extracting air out of the side (when the side is on), is there a card cooler or something i can purchase (that requires minimal to no work) to get my case cooler?

Please feel free to offer any ideas/suggestions!

Hi,

I recently purchased an ASUS A7A133 with and AMD Athlon 1.2 CPU. This combo was around $279.00. This came with a heatsink, fan on the CPU and one on the chipset. I also have a cooling fan on my mid-tower case. I have had no problem as of yet.
ASUS has a software program with it called pcprobe that supposedly monitors the temp of the cpu and fans. I'm not sure of the accuracy, but it's cool nevertheless.
Hope this helps.

I had the same problem as DaRkS|d3, what I did was buying an extremely large fan (industrial kind, you know), keeping my computer case open, and let the air hit straight to the MB

You guys should really give it a try

Cons: I have to clean it often, noise
Pros: Top performance, doesn´t reboot

Meanwhile, I gotta buy some heat sink with fan...

System: Athlon@900, 196MB RAM, HD 10.2, 60.1 GB, Nvidia Riva TNT 16 MB RAM, CDROM 32X, CDRW 8x4x24, etc, etc.
