I think this would be a great thread to help out people who need to raise their score by just modifying their graphics card settings and such.

I'll start this off...

I've heard that if you unplug your monitor during the benchmarking process that it could raise your score by 100ish.

Try setting your graphics cards settings all to performance instead of quality. To do this goto control panel - display - settings - advanced, then check the tabs for things reguarding the quality vs. performance settings. This has been known to raise my score by 400.

Any other tips or tricks?

When u ready to start 3dmark Benchmarking press Alt+Ctl+Del====>Processes(bookmark) find 3dmark2001SE.exe=====>highlight it, right click, Set Priority==>REAL TIME.
Most likely u will have to restart your PC after the test because system will be overloaded, but don't forget to take a screenshot or post it to madonion site :)

Well that might boost your score alittle, but unless you have low ram it won't help. If you have alot of ram like 512-1GB then it's not going to help your score much... maybe a few points. It's also not very safe cause it could cause windows to become unstable on some systems and corrupt it. Or atleast messing with those type of settings have been known to do so. Anyways, I wouldn't suggest setting 3DMark2001SE.exe to REAL TIME.

Any suggestions on hardware that would boost scores would be good too, like more ram or cpu overclocking ect...

CPU overclocking will help with scores also (especially in 3dmark01), although not really siginificantly so in 3dmark03

How would hyper threading help, anyone tried disabling it then benching? I dunno I've heard the P4 did better in CPU Benching without it

Run the Graphics cards to their limits, the best visual at the highest resolution.

That will seriously decrease their score, not increase it though

Kill everything you possibly can. Services, processes, applications in sys tray. When i pull out the plug to my dslline and exit Sygate Firewall, i get 175 more in 3Dmark2001SE.

hehe......is it really worth going through hours of tweaking ur PC ...services, programs, disableing everything you can........just to get another hundred 3Dmark points? Hmmmm.....dunno think so. You will get a slighlty higher score....but using your PC for general stuff like internet etc. will cause heaps a probs if you dont know what ur turning off. You will just have to turn most stuff back on. IMO...

If your main concern is the score then u might as well not even run the benchmark.

Look on the web for 3dmark2001 scores then copy the image and edit it with Paintshop pro or any other image editing tool, modify the score there to the highest possible, like 50,000 marks for 3dmark2001, you will spend less time stressing your system and would have achieved a score higher than anyones around. HAHAHAHA.

On a serious note, whats a 100-500 more points if you are at the limit anyways, lets say you benchmarked and achieved 13,000 just round it up with a +/- 500 and you are set.

well if u got 19900 marks and u only need 100 to get 20.000 i think there is a point for tweaking :p

Maybe...if your sole priority in life is to make the 20000 points.....but whats the difference in going from 11245 to 11310...and making your PC completely unstable.

Would make u like this

Disable everything should take max. a minute if you dont have 100s of startup programs which you dont need at all.

I don't see how unplugging your monitor will increase your score... The video card and processor are still processing the same information regardless of the monitor being plugged in or not.

Benchmarks should be run with certain "default settings" in order for you to get a good idea of how well your system is performing when compared to other systems that are also running more or less the same settings. If you start messing around with all the settings, your score really doesn't mean much.
