No, this is not a Star Trek question.

A long time ago, on the Brainstorming forum (which I just noticed is gone http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif ), I asked if anyone could recommend a program to recover data from a harddrive I fudged up. Someone suggested PowerQuest's Lost & Found. So, I bought it and now I finally used it. I thought I should let everyone know the results. I expect that a lot of people have been loosing sleep waiting to find out if it worked. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Anyway, it worked perfectly and was real easy to use. All of the files were found and the program let me pick all files and directories I wanted to recover. So, I'm out of the dog house with my wife for screwing up her harddrive. Thanks for the help.

Yes, Lost and Found is a great product. Unfortunately PowerQuest doesn't make it anymore. You once could download it from their site.

But there appear to be a fair number of retail copies still available. I just did a search on Google and found several sites that say they have it in stock.

The one problem with Lost and Found is that it is a one-time use product. Or rather it can only be used on one hard drive.

But when you consider how well it works at data recovery and the cost of sending your hard drive to a recovery service, it is still a bargain.

I remember that post. Kudos for recovering the data. Good to be out of the dog house, eh? (For a while anyway, right? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif )

Glad it worked out.
