Hi guys,

My secondary system is a spare gaming rig for when my mates come over.

PIII 1ghz cpu
512mb SDRAM
Epox CU133A mobo
Geforce 2 mx400 64MB

Now, this mobo only supports 4x AGP and i have a Geforce fx5200 that i'd like to use with it. I want to upgrade the mobo only so i can take advantage of the 8x AGP speed. Can anybody recommend something cheap and decent (i don't want to go DDR cos i haven't got the cash at the moment)

Thanks

Steve

AGP 8x cards will work fine in an AGP 4x board and the actual speed increase between 4x and 8x isnt even enough to warrant a positive remark (even in synthetic benchmarks) never midn replacing your mobo

I sure couldn't find a socket 370 that supported agp 8x that had both sdram and ddr (and the reviews I've read show that in many cases you many not see much of a difference unless you're a serious gamer)

other's have some input - my guess is why build an outdated P3 board with 8x agp when the cpu, typical psu, using the sdram etc. wouldn't get you the full benefits anyway?

Jakk beat me to it :t

ditto on that point!! NVidia's even admitting that many mobos aren't even getting 8x anyway - it's something they're working out
