Is there such a card as a Radeon 9500 (non-pro)

easy when u see it, it says if its pro or not
it will show a big ATI 9500 and if it doesnt say pro right next the 9500, then its not a pro
but if it looks like this ATI 9500 pro its a pro
pretty simple :D
and if your talking about graphics wise 9500 pro performs wayyyy better
although you can softmod a sapphire 9500 to maybe a 9700 and save ureself money

I believe that the Pro has a supplemental power connector. If yours has a Molex connector, it's a Pro.

Wahey!!! That means mine is a pro then.
The reason why i ask is because it's actually a replacement card that was sent to me by Time computers. I had to wrangle with them for months to give me a replacement for a Geforce 5200 that i wasn't happy with. They agreed to give me a geforce Ti 4200 and the 9500 pro landed on my doorstep this morning.
So what do you think? Better with the rad 9500 pro or the Ti 4200?
I was meant to send the fx 5200 back but i'm keeping it and putting it in my secondary machine because they've messed me around a fair bit. I'll need suggestions for a cheap/good agp 8x mobo cos my secondary machine is only agp 4x but that's another forum.

LOL KEEP THE 9500 PRO u say u got that as a replacement????? wowwww the 9500 pro smokes the ti4200 u can pump ure settings really high with that baby.
btw were u the one that Times sold a computer to and it was false advertising? so they r giving u a replacement?

Yes there is a 9500. From the 9500pro, it has the RAM bandwidth cut in half (because it uses half as many RAM chips). But it also does have the aux power connector.
Anyhow, even the 9500 is still a lucky deal if you got it as a replacement for the rather measly 5200.

That's me and yes.

Ok , i checked the card. It has 8 chips (4 each side) but i plugged the serial number into google and i got links to the non-pro version. I think it's a non-pro version. Still better than an fx5200 though:)

the 9500pro and ti4200 aren't even in the same category. that's like comparing a geforce 4 to a rage 128. the 9500pro is not only more expensive but newer too. i think you get the idea.

9500 series = dx9.0
gf4ti4200= not dx9.0
although games havent been using dx9.0 we are slowly moving into dx9.0 with games such as doom3, hl-2, and splinter cell
the 9500 would last longer and is very good

Ok dudes. It's definately a 9500np but it's a sapphire model. I checked out some other forums about the 9500 - 9700 softmod (which to be honest i thought was a load of bollocks)
My 3Dmark score with the fx5200 was 1457
My 3Dmark score with the 9500np was 2850
wait for this
I applied the softmod and my 3dmark score went to 4250
The multi fill rate doubled from around 1000 to 2019. All with no graphical glitches or problems.
I am absolutely delighted with my card.
