ATA 133 or ATA 100

Right now I am running a Maxtor 160Gig ATA 133 from a PCI controller card. My MB is a MSI 865PE with a P4 2.53..1Gig PC2700 Ram..etc etc with Windows XP Pro installed.

Question:

Would I see a difference by doing away with the PCI controller card and run the Maxtor off of the motherboard. The board supports ATA 100, (it does have SATA, but I have no HD for it).

Is there any advantage/dis-advantage of running a HD off of a PCI controller card?

The onboard controllers should be a bit quicker because a card is subject to PCI latency and other PCI traffic. A chipset solution is definitely faster. How much? I don't think the average user can tell the difference.
