I've looked in the obvious spot, the owner's manual, but did not the information I needed. I also went to Honda's website and didn't find the information there either.

Here's the lowdown:

I left the passenger window down during a rainstorm a couple of weeks ago. Now the passenger in-door speaker doesn't have any bass.

I have a 1995 Honda Accord EX 2dr Coupe. I think I remember hearing from a friend that those have Alpine systems in them (I could be wrong).

I have two little speakers up in the corner on each side of the dash. I'm assuming these are tweeters and the door speaker is for the base and the mid-range.

I was going to take out the door speaker, make sure all the connections were good, put it back, and see if it worked. If it didn't I was going to try and find a replacement. If I were to look for a replacement I would want to know the specs of the stereo so I can get the approriate sized speaker.

I don't want to spend an arm and a leg, just want to get the speaker working.

it's usually not to hard to take the speaker out of the door. I know that on some cars it's as simple as snapping off the cover, and unscrewing it. On others, you have to take of the inside of the door (usually pretty easy as well w/ a screwdriver and some thought).

anyway. once you take the speaker out, usually on the back of the speaker, there are all the specs on the speaker so that you can get another. that is if another is even needed. I would suggest opening up the door, and seeing if maybe a few wires just got loosened. if it got rained on, and it is a paper cone speaker, it's probably ruined. however, if it's not to difficult to take the speaker out, i'd try and see if you could put the speaker on the other door and see if it works there. you could also take the other speaker and put it in the place of the broken speaker to make sure that it is only the speaker that isn't working.

anyway, there's a few ideas to keep you busy for a little bit. hope that helps

I popped out the speaker and it said "Made in the USA" and "15W" and "4ohm".

So I guess that answers the question to what type of speaker I need.

Thanks for the input zskillz. I'll give that a try this weekend. I didn't even think of that. I guess I've been studying too hard for the GMAT that I'm taking tomorrow and that is just to logical of an answer! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Car speakers will be 4 ohm. Ignore the 15 watts stuff. Buy a pair and have the shop/store you get them from make certain they will fit by giving them the make/model/year of your car. Mention that you are using the stock car stereo; they can provide adaters to make the installation a complete no-brainer (no splicing wire).

I bet the rain ruined the paper cone of the speaker. A good polypropylene or carbon fibre pair should only cost you about $50.

The cone looks ok. I'll swap the door speakers to see if it is a speaker problem or a wiring problem in the door.

...if you want to, this would be a most excellent time to upgrade your car stereo http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif. YMK is correct - for an ok, decent pair of speakers, $50 will do it.
