I have a relatively new Geforce3 TI200 128MB video card. About after 3 months of usage, the fan seems to have given up, and with it came overheating, etc.
I have taken the fan and heatsink manifold apart to discern what the problem was. I found out that the fan does work perfectly fine when not attached to the heatsink. Needless to say, this did not solve my problem. I guess it lies between the mechanical contact of the heatsink and the fan, but I cannot detect any obstruction, or reason to support the fan's failure.
Currently, I have my case open and am just using about a 10-inch oscilating desk fan to solve the problem. This is quite a crude fix to my problem, and I am not satisfied with it.
I have decided against sending it back, for I believe the answer is mundane; however, I must be overlooking it.
What do you think?
Thank you.
