Hi I'm trying to update the firmware for a dvd writer and need to get my pc (xp pro) to boot from a floppy.

I have rebooted with the floppy in drive a, but the pc just starts as normal.

These are my bios>boot settings;

I've had a look in bios under boot and it says;

1 removable device (disabled)

2 IDE hard drive

3 ATAPI CD-ROM (LG.....

4 other boot device (disabled)

plug and play o/s yes

quick post (enabled)

floppy seek during post yes

Can anyone help with this,

thanks.

In your bios you need to change the boot order. Have it look for the floppy, then the hard drive. Having it do a floppy seek won't do it. It'll just look at the floppy and then boot to the hard drive, that's all that does.:eek: Good luck.

The order should go.
1. floppy drive
2. Hard drive
3. other drive (cd, etc.)

Once I'm in bios, how do I change the boot order?
