I find Adaptec's Easy CD Creator package to be excellent. Easy to learn & use, allows both copying existing CDs and creating custom CDs (such as backups) using Explorer-like interface. They explain it much better than I can

This one explains features better:

AuraEdge,

well for ease of use go with Adaptec's software (also supports the most brands and models of burners. Next I would recommend Nero great for "overburning" but not as easy to use. WinonCD I personally hated. Both of the above softwares you can usually find on the net. but both to have them work you will have to buy them /forum/frown.gif as I lucked out and got Adaptec's software with my burner.

If you want to backup CD's use CDRWIN from Golden Hawk Technologies

Otherwise use Nero. The adaptec stuff is ok, but these are the best.

check out these websites - be warned they are a bit'dodgy'.

Yea if you want to backup your games or psx games, use CDRWIN, because Adaptec cant do psx backups. CDRWIN is probably the easiest to use, Adaptec is actually about equal, Nero gives you the most options in a software that I have seen, pretty advanced stuff, but it works really well especially if your CDR can overburn cd's.

Well, you can sort of backup playstation games. There is chip in the psx that reads a country code off the cdrom. It compares that with a function. If the code doesnt match up, it wont play the game. They do this so you can play japaneese or other foriegn games--and you canNOT play backups. They only way to play a backup is by cracking open the case of your playstation, and installing a thing called a modchip. Sony hates these and it voids the warranty to install one. They also now have games that will recognizes if you have one installed in the psx and will nto play the games. They have also made it harder to install the modchip (which requires to yout o solder 4 or more wires and the chip to your psx mainboard). But, it does void teh warranty and is not guarenteed to work.

I saw them selling one of those modchip thingys at a comp show, only no soldering. You just plug it in the back...i think it was 35 bucks tho. Gotta be nuts. Anyways what difference does it make using one write program over another when u make PSX 'backups'?

Been looking for a good CDR/RW burner for the last few months. It seems like there's a lot of good hardware available, but, the software is in a constant state of "catching up".Adaptec's "EZ CD Creator" seems to be in the lead. However, like all new technologies, compatibility is the name of the game.Whoever develops a software program that can accept all formats.....is going to make a lot of money, and make a lot of people happy!

It's not freeware, it's crippleware /forum/frown.gif. All operations are limited to 1x speed.

You get it at:

www.cdrwin.com (http://www.cdrwin.com)
www.goldenhawk.com (http://www.goldenhawk.com)
