Hi everyone, Ive got a HUGE problem. Ive been a HL/CS player for about 4 years and Ive never even thought of cheating, and I hate cheaters more than anything. So you can understand my temperment when I try to connect to one of my favorite servers and get the message: Due to prior violations of having hacks detected on your system you can no longer connect to any secure server until 2004-02-02 (Feb. 2, 2004). Its not exactly word for word, but you get the picture. So I try reinstalling CS. No good. Then I uninstall HL and all other game mods I had and reinstall HL and CS. Still no good, same message. The CS site says that I either need to get a new opengl32.dll file or altogether reinstall my OS, neither of which I care to or really can do. I am running a pirated copy of WinXP, and I dont know where to get another opengl32.dll file. I supposed I could get one from a friend, but before I do, I would like to know any ideas or suggestions anyone might have. Again, I have NEVER used cheats or DLed any cheats or even begun to. PLEASE OH PLEASE OH PLEASE I CANT WAIT TILL FEBUARY TO PLAY CS AGAIN! HELP!!! Thanks!

I know I know I know, but I was strapped for cash, my HD had JUST died and I have a HP so I had no OS cd at all. I needed an OS and that was LITERALLY my only option. Im not proud of it guys, but scold away, I know I did bad thing.
PS: Im BUYING XP as soon as I get my new comp.

ok maybe we can drop the legal questions about ur OS (if u want just edit ur post and take that paragaph off so to not get in any arguments with anyone)
anyway back to the original problem with CS...
u do not need to install any files or anything like that because VAC blocks ur CD-key and files on ur computer have nothing to do with it. So u have 3 choices now
1. Wait till the end of ur sentence Feb. 2, 2004. (umm no)
2. Buy a new HL($15) or CS($25) retail
3. Try getting urself unbanned http://www.forumplanet.com/counterstrike/topic.asp?fid=4954&tid=1045887 describes in detail what u should do, i guess ur not the only one who VAC mistakenly marked as a hax0r

CaptHandsome have you borrow your cd-key to some1 else to play? U got the cd-key from privated too? :D

when did this start happening to you? is the OS a new install? or has this only starting happening the last few days? let me know when it was you installed CS/HL and your OS, if at the same time i dont think i can help but at diffrent times maybe I can.

he doesnt need a copy of CS or HL the only thing that he needs is a new CD-Key and that u cannot get nowhere for free.

I actually did give my CD-key to a good friend, but he only plays Day of Defeat, and I can still play that and Firearms so its not that. I Installed my OS shortly after XP first came out.....within a few weeks. I bought my HL, thats legit. Umm, and thats about it.
I dont think VAC blocks your CD key, just your WON ID, it would be too easy for someone to do some sort of hacking (im just assuming) and be able to get ur CD, whereas your WON ID is readily available.
Im hoping that when I get a new computer that this problem will be gone but...lets see. Thanks to everyone who gave me suggestions.
A question for xenon, how sure are you that that method in the link will work???

If its like wc3. They tell you it will ban your cd key. And they will not ever restore it.:eek: So dont give out your key or you maybe out some $. They also tell you that if someone else logs on at the same time with same key it sends a flag-you be banned.....:t

if i am not mistaken ur wonid will change if u change the CD key anyway CD-key and wonid are directly linked so if ur buddy gave that CD-key away (or maybe some one stole it of him) and they used the cheats and got u banned.
again i am not sure how the whole WON authentication system works so correct me if u know
about that link i gave u with instructions. I am not sure if it will work but u can defenitly try because the link is from counter-strike official site forums so i would trust these guys.
of course the easiest way will be to just get a new half-life platinum copy http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?DEPA=&submit=Go&description=half%2Dlife or maybe somewhere u can find just a half-life game of the year edition which should be even cheaper then that. I mean if u really want to play $20 is not that big of a deal. Just remember dont give away ur CD-key to nobody even ur best friends!! (**** i gave my buddy my cd-key too ... i hold my breath everytime i log on the server now uhhhhhhhh :eek: :( :D

By the way you dont have to worry. WHen your friend is playing CS with your CD key.. and you log in.. It either let you get in or it said some like your CD key have been using.
I have a legit counter strike CD and Key I will never use because I have a second copy in the platinum edition. I can sell it to you for $13.00 shipped. Just trying to help.

Ok, ive been outta town for a few days, so im back. Anyways, Ive given the same guy my CD-key in the past...2-3 years ago and as long as we didnt get on the same server we could play fine. sometimes we would be playing at the same time, but as long as its on different servers its peachy. now I have a hunch that since the new update of HL (1.1.10 i believe) came out (also i shouldnt say new, but at the time he wasnt playing any HL games anymore) they changed VAC, or something where if one key is being used on 2 diff machines then it will ban/deactivate it. HOWEVER, if my theory is correct it STILL doesnt explain why CHEATS were detected on my comp. That is still the main problem. Thanks for all the help and advice, and the offers to sell me things :p but I will have to pass. Im building a new rig soon, and im praying that Ill get a new won id w/it, and if not then its cool, because I can still play Firearms, and w/my new comp I can play my friends discarded Raven Shield. Oh happy day. Ok cool. Thanks!
Next time, don't ever give your CD Key to anyone.
