Albatron PE 865PE Pro; P4-2.4Ghz (533); 1 GB DDR 333; ATI AIW 7500 Pro; WD 80 GB/8mb; 52x CDRW; 6x DVD; floppy.

This is a replacement board. Before I shipped the former board back, I loaded XP Pro from CD. The computer boots just fine from the hard drive. I was able to load both Service Pack 1A and the mobo drivers from CD.

Problem: I wanted to fdisk and make a dual boot. I couldn't complete the boot from floppy. I got the CD/No CD Support, it found the CD drives, began to load and shutdown the computer. Just shutdown.

I have tried every combination of floppy, cable, and startup disk. I have tried each in another computer. I have taken the other computer's and hooked it up to the Albatron. All work just fine in the second computer. All don't in the Albatron.

Maybe omen to give up Windows 98SE. Tried to reload Windows XP from the CD ROM. It will boot and begin to load the setup files and then shuts off the computer. Tried both CDRW and DVD as well as a backup XP disk. Same results.

As I mentioned, the computer boots just fine from hard drive and will load programs from CD.

The problem is that this is the third board. The first two boards were defective. It began as an 845PE. But that board was defective. But as no longer available, I had to get the 865PE. If I knew I was going to go 865, my CPU would have been 800 FSB, etc.

Anway, the system was professionally tested TWICE. All components (including power supply) were tested in another system. The other system was tested. Each time, my board came up tilt!

Hey Ray - what's the boot sequence set to?

Thanks for the help. Apparently helps to seat the heatsink correctly!

You guys got me to check the temp! Doarking out!

That means the temperature cause the problem?

Yeah, it was the temp. I was reading the system temp instead or of or in addition to the cpu temp. The CUP was hot!
