I need a label printing program for things like video tape and floppy disk labels. Most of the programs I own or have tried force you to create an address book if you need to do a series of labels (1 of 10, 2 of 10, 3 of 10, and so on). The problem with this is that you go through all that trouble to create the address book just to print one set of labels. Once the labels are printed, the address book file is no longer needed. I'd rather just type the info right into a screen that looks like the label sheet, hit Print and be done with it.

Can anyone point me to a shareware or freeware program that will operate the way I want?

The label program that you describe sounds great but I've never seen anything like that. I scrapped all of my label programs in favor of Avery Wizard and have been using it with success for years. IT'S FREE from Avery:

If you have Office 2000 I know that in Word you can create and print labels and even "custom define" label sizes and then even print only 1 out of a sheet or the whole sheet. I dont remember if with office 95 or 97 if you could do that. (I do remember you could print labels but cant remember if it was a "configurable" as office 2000)

Kinda running off memmory here, since I don't have it loaded currently, but I've used Avery LabelPro to do what you're describing. Or it can be set up to do a series. I originally used it one at a time, then found it easier to set up as database since this saved all layout & font info. Never have to save large database unless you want to, just save #1 then edit it changing the field info as needed. Saving the setup makes it easy for all your labels to have the same look.
I used it mostly for floppy labels & saved the database so that I can quickly recreate one if disk is lost or label is damaged.
