AndreRIO 07-02-2001, 02:22 AM me? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif norton utilities 2001 why? because i use it since dos days NDD 07-02-2001, 03:02 AM format.com, chkdsk.exe Same reason http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Best Regards ... solo-pc-tech 07-02-2001, 06:58 AM I run all my utility software from pure DOS or the Windows 2000 command line. Currently use pqmagic, pqdi, diskedit, tweak, ipconfig, format. This is PowerQuest PartitionMagic 6.0, PowerQuest Drive Image 4.0, and Norton Diskedit. Partition Magic and Drive Image can solve most drive problems. I make image files of all my OS installations and simply restore if I run into trouble. My data is kept on a separate partition. Don't seem to need as many utilities nowadays. Used to run paraspd, checkit, s3id, ramexam, ctcm, nucache, spinrite, Syschk, Sysinfo. [This message has been edited by solo-pc-tech (edited 07-02-2001).] daveleau 07-02-2001, 08:37 AM Mostly I use MS utils built in (msconfig, defrag, regclean (downloaded)), but if I had to choose a utility suite, I use Ontrack's Fix It Utilities. It is better than Norton (huge resource hog) and McAfee (worst software ever written is all doen by McAfee). It has everything you need and does everything quicker than Norton as well. Dave bhess 07-02-2001, 08:50 AM I used to use first aid then tried norton 2001. I don't use any now. I had problems with both. I use driveimage pro to save my ****. GroundZero3 07-02-2001, 09:14 AM system mechanic for me Jason NDC 07-02-2001, 09:39 AM Utilities I mostly use are... System Mechanic, Diskeeper, Norton 2001, and AlZip. System Mechanic = Registry clean Diskeeper = Defrag Norton 2001 = Virus checks AlZip = Decompress and compress [This message has been edited by NDC (edited 07-02-2001).] Mntsnow 07-02-2001, 09:56 AM Ditto to NDC's including Ghost (System Recovery utility) and Partition/Server magic (HD partititon Utility) SysOpt.com
