Earthweb Banner Ads. causing problems...

Recently,I have had trouble getting onto Sysopt. This am it would freeze while trying to load a banner called "adimages.earthweb.com" whenever i tried to access sysopt.com (or directly to BB). So i enabled AtGaurd (an application that blocks banner ads)and got in no problem first try. and much faster... So i think the earthweb banners may be the problem...
Comment: I understand the need for banners and ads on sites, but, It is critical that they do not dramatically hinder access to the site as it is doing now... my 2 cents , probably overpriced /forum/smile.gif.
Am i wrong about the banners being prob? My browser is Netscape 4.6.

what video card do you have, I have a creative labs banshee and it would crash the browser on certain sites but creative just released a new driver that fixes this and some other things. It worked for me no more lockups.

I have a Diamond Viper550 AGP.... I should have been more clear about my meaning of the word "freeze" in this case. The browser or system did not lockup, just sat there waiting for response from "earthweb.com".(ad banner on sysopt) with no response.. i could go to other sites no problem, and as stated, with AtGuard enabled problem went away. Sorry for using the term freeze, it wasnt the best choice of words...BTW problem went away when the banner cycled (i guess) to a new one...
