:p Sup...I wanna put a dual mobo combo on this case..
http://www.aaronix.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/22_32/products_id/420

I was thinking a 2.8 intel.. I want ht technology on it..And the most fsb.. Up to 8gb's of ram..

Anyone know where I could find one for a really good price? Do they sell any with both chips already? Or would it be cheaper anyway buyin the chips and installing it myself?

Do you think that case can handle this type of board?

When they come out with 64 bit you think they going to lower the dual mobo and combo's as well:confused:

If you have to ask these questions, I would doubt that you're ready to build this, but...

The HT P4s aren't supported in dual-CPU setups. Intel has the Xeons for 32-bit and Itaniums for 64-bit. There are many motherboards which support those, but they are pretty big. You'll need a deep case like the Lian-Li PC-70 or at least a Chieftec/Antec full-sized case.

Keep in mind that the Itaniums and Opterons are a waste of money unless you're running a 64-bit server OS. There are no 64-bit consumer OSes. Besides, dual-CPUs are also a waste unless you're using applications that can take advantage of them. Games usually run slower in two-CPU setups.

AMD is already selling the 64-bit Opteron. MSI makes a good board for these - as do others. Go to the board maker's web site and click on Server products to find them.

:)Thanks.. I'm going to be using it for recording.,. But i was looking at the price, i dont even want to spend that much for the dual..

Since it wont be dual i'm thinking now a 3.0, ht, 800fsb, 4gb or higher..

Which board model mobo combo would you recommend for recording at a reasonable price?

I just dont know which ones would suit me.. But the intel seems to make fast mobo chip combo's..

Any help will be appreciated..

Oh - champagne taste and a beer budget? We get a lot of that. ;)

Any top-flight Intel or AMD would do fine.

For Intel, get the 3.0C, some Corsair PC3500 RAM and an MSI:

To CD? You can use a plain E-machines with a good sound card for that. It's no real task at all.

I have a sound card for recording...

But i'm going to be using many programs for recording that need a lot of memory... and it's also going to be used for personal use, internet, maybe to do some photoshop work..

What is msi?? Why is it good?

Please click the links and then "Product Link". They are good for beginners setting up for the first time. Reliable too.

MSI = MicroStar Int'l. A company that makes motherboards, video cards, and other computer products. The motherboard you choose won't matter for recording as long as you have a sound card.

As far as memory, 1GB should do you fine unless you have huge demands from your apps, but motherboards supporting 4GB are rare. Usually up 3GB is what you find.
