Recovery console question

Hi Everyone,
I had a pentium IV Gigabyte mainboard that died on me and replaced with an Intel board. I'm too lazy at the moment to reformat and install everything again and this also affords me an opportunity to atleast get my hands dirty with the recovery console.

Yes, you guessed it; I got a stop: 0x0000007B Inaccessible_boot_device error which I attribute to different chipset drivers from the previous driver set. (It's windows 2000 Pro by the way).

My question is: how do I go about installing the correct chipset?
I went BipolarBill's way into recovery console but hit a roadblock when I accessed the cd rom with the intel chipset drivers on it.

I can't just use setup in a pseudoDOS environment, so that's where I'm at.

Any help is really appreciated.

you have to run a repair installation at least. boot from the win2k cd and proceed like a normal installation. win2k will stop at a certain point and ask if you want to repair a current installation. choose to repair.

if that doesn't work, then it's time for a clean install.

Thats' what I've done so far. I just hate to get my **** kicked like this without so much as a fight.

All our systems at work use win2k pro and when a board dies I always format and start fresh because I've always been pressed for time.
Now that I do have the time I'm getting the impression it can't be done!

Whenever you change a motherboard a reinstall works best, pop in the cd while your in win and go with the upgrade, if you can't get in win then boot from it and go with the upgrade as it will leave your progs and data intact without having to install everything else again.
