Hey there my fellow crunchers!

Just thought I'd give you all an update on our newly-launched Cancer-crunching initiative.

We're coming up on 200 WUs as a team shortly, and we're really ripping along! We've had several new joiners in the last little while... and man, this one new guy is just whistling along!

My SETI crunching is still whipping along... got my P4 1.6 GHz Willamette and a P1-166 MHz MMX server with 128MB of 60ns EDO-RAM crunching SETI as well now :r

We've garnered a P1-100 from a computer company here in town. First thing I did was O/C it to 133 (33% increase! :p) and install UD on it. It looks as though 5 days to 6 days will be the time needed, I'll know more at lunch.

The XP 1800 will be replaced with a 2100+ Tbred B core in a few days, for a whopping 30 CDN! My bud's getting a Barton 2500+, so he's givin me the 2100+ for cheap. O/Ced to 1909MHz, it ought to rock! Also, it ought to drop my UD times down a tad more too :D :r

Have a great week everyone!

Oh, just stop by the site and check it out: http://www.one87.net/~teamx

Oh man, I'm gonna kick something

I'm THIS close to running UD in Knoppix 3.1 via WINE, but now I'm told it might be my OpenGL support. I can get the client to load, it says it's processing... but then it makes no actual progress as listed by the progress bar.

On the bright side, I've got my Knoppix chops down enough that I can run diskless SETI workstations. Takes about five minutes of work to set each one up (from boot) and goes from there. Small consolation, but it's still progress. Xsetiathome looks surprisingly like the GUI for Windows when running. The nice part is, it's nowhere near as intensive as the Windows GUI, and can be stopped without affecting the setiathome commandline crunching.

If anyone has a copy of the 3.03 i686 Linux version of SETI@home (both executables, setiathome and xsetiathome), PLEASE let me know. I'll host it on my website for all :)

Thanks guys, and I'll keep you updated on running UD in Linux!

Oh, and did you notice the stylish link on the Links page Webby? :)

I found a 3.03 copy of the Linux i686 client, and have it hosted on my site... but not linked to yet. That will change after lunch :)

I'm still crunching SETI guys! If I can't get SETIQueue to log in via ISA Server, I'll have to stop crunching here soon :(

Well, by default... SETIQueue should connect via port 80, ala SETI clients... I'll disable the Firewall client and try directly through ISA server.

Why does it have to be so complicated?

You mean you'll plug it in a different way! ;)
