upgrade dilemma

ive got a celeron 500 on a be62 mobo, sblive player diamond modem teac cdrom 128 megs of sdram100 and an asus v3800 rivatnt2 ultra. i want to up my gaming platform but i only have money to upgrade prob one component. should i choose to upgrade my cpu to prob a p3 or get a geforce card? if i buy a celeron 800, i could prob even squeeze in one of those cheaper geforce (inno3d makes an affordable mx200). pls help me decide on this so i get the greatest bang for the buck.

I would go for the graphics card. Get a Geforce2. Because the Geforce has T&L, it would ease the work of the CPU that normally handles that. I don't think the MX series cards have T&L though.

You can go with the geforce mx (I have a mx400 from Elsa which is very good) but motherboards and amd chips are so cheap now.!! (Do you get an idea!!!!!).

i could probably afford the price for a p3 750 in my currency (150 usd i think converted). thanks for the amd offer but i do alrady have a slot1 mobo and i still think its a good one so i'll pass on the amd offer for now. i could also probably afford a geforce 2 but if i do gat this card can my aging celeron 500 still deliver?

Well that celeron will use the Geforce but no much, put it this way, it'll run the same with a 3DFX Voodoo3 as it will with that Geforce. Maybe you could get an upgrade package, I've seen em in some onlines stores here in Aus, you can get a duron+motherboard+MX for a dam good price. Give a price range in US dollars(round-a-bout) and I'll see what you can get at pricewatch.

i could probly only afford 200 USD and that should already include the shipping. not much really so im in a tight budget.

Then I suggest to get a better proccessor. I just looked at your system specs.. and if you only have a Celeron 500 what will happen is that the geforce will perform the same way as the tnt because you have to use low resolutions.!! It will only benefit you if games have t&l.!
