Hi, when I start IE, it takes over a minute for anything to appear on the screen, even though I can hear the hard drive working as soon as I click the IE icon. I've done a defrag, but it has not helped.
So I want to re install IE from my XP disk ( I think it's on there?).
If I do this, will I lose all my settings and fave list etc?
Thanks.

A better idea is to scan and repair with Spybot:

I have scanned with spybot, it made no difference. How do I repair?

From the control panel, add/remove programs.
If you choose IE6, you will have the option to repair it. See if this works...

There is no option to repair.
I'm using XP btw.

Those sneaky dogs...
Try to remove it in Control Panel using Add/Remove Windows components..
Do you have all the critical updates?
Oh...might want to try to re-service pack XP with SP1, just for the hey of it, as well.
I don't see IE on the XP disk..but, it might be hidden deep down...
Also, if you follow this path:
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\ and copy the favorites folder elsewhere...it's safe and won't get deleted...

From the Start menu, select Run.
In the Open field, type sfc /scannow (Note: There is a space between sfc and /scannow)
Select the OK button.
Follow the prompts throughout the System File Checker process.
Reboot the computer when System File Checker completes.
