I want to buy a DVD player for my computer at home and play the movies to my 32" tv screen.
Right now I have a ASUS Geforce 2 Deluxe with TV out but when I tired the TV out the quality sucks so I don't think that would work.
So to get proper resolution on my TV from my DVD player do i have to get a decoder card (like the creative labs DVD bundle) or?

What were you using to hook your video card to your TV? I have a Viper II and use the S-Video out to watch DVDs on my TV. I get great pictures with no problems. I tried the composite out on my video card once and the quality was very bad. So, try S-Video if you can before buying another card.
I've had no problems with my S-Video out from my Leadtek GF2MX card. Lots of reviews say that the leadtek has a fuzzier s-video out than the competition, but it looks OK to me.
I wonder if there are any video cards that output component video? Of course, the ultimate display would be to get a XGA projector for your home theater. Coupled with a good sound system and you'd have an awesome home theater.

Yeah, um I have tried connecting using the S-video which does work but the quality is not that good. Maybe another topic. But I am using the Detonator 12 drivers right now and not the drivers that game with my ASUS card. (should I be?)...
So what is the purpose of getting one of those decoder cards then? Do they have the S-video out on them?
And the reason why I want to use DVD on my computer is because I have the Theatre XP system with 6 channel sound.

You can get a decoder card with an S-Video out on it. I am not sure which decoder cards are the best out now though. I can understand why you want to go through your PC. That is what i do. I have a SB Live MP3+ 5.1 card in my system with a Cambridge Soundworks 5 speaker analog theater system hooked up to it. Watching movies is great!
