I've been looking to buy a webcam, and I have decided on the Logitech Pro 4000. I can get it brand new, shipped for around $80. If I get a refurbished one, I can get it for about $40 from justdeals.com. I don't really care if it looks a little damaged, or if it's missing some stuff (editing software, lens cover, etc.), as long as the camera and drivers are included. What I want to ask is, will the refurbished camera actually perform at manufacturer specs (if the camera was previously broken down)? Are their higher chances of the refurbished camera breaking sooner than a new one? I know you can't really speak for logitech's every refurbished webcam out there, but what stuff should I know about buying a refurbished webcam?

I would buy it somewhere I could send it back if anything goes wrong.

Years ago, I used to get refurbed handheld scanners from the Logitech factory in Fremont. I think I got a $300 new one (black and white), for $120 w/one year warranty!

It worked pretty good.

You could take the chance, thats what it is, but I would prefer new with warranty, dont think $40 is worth the risk, prices falling weekly, you will soon get it for less than $80 when you shop around.
