Last year I didn't take a long vacation, or rather I just took a good amount of three to four day weekends. This weekend I'm leaving for the Cape for 10 days and I'm realizing that yes it will be nice to play, golf, tennis and jog on the beach, but...there will be no electonic communication involved.
I'm fretting about it even though I know I'll be too busy to think of a computer there is just so much I can think of that needs to get done and I can't spare 10 days away from one. I think I'm a little addicted...I have no addictions but this vacation is making my computer addiction show its tech-savy head.
Help Doc! I need medication! Some have suggested a computer book, but all I have are .Net programming books and Maximum PC magazines...aaah! No Good! And you know, a plain ficition book just won't do....tear.
Hopefully I'll suck back enough red wine to forget about it all and calm my nerves, wish me luck!
Next year, a new laptop or a therapist...HaHa!

Go with the laptop idea, throw in a digital camera.
Always gives me a good excuse to play. Get back to hotel, have to take pictures off camera, have to name pictures maybe e-mail a few. Good couple hours playing for good reasons. :D

Lol...that's where I was last week. Grandparents had a house there for the longest time.
Unfortuneatly, not many hotels have a dataport. :(
I had my g/f's laptop and it was agony. Haha. I was all pysched to play my mmorpgs, check in here, etc. What a let down. Haha.
It'll be alright though. Most of the stuff you are gonna do probably will be on your feet, so by the time you get back to your room you are toast.
If you have time, go whale watching out of the Barnstable harbour. The boat is named "Whale Watcher" (Real original). But it was an amazing time.
If you need any suggetions, drop me a line. :)

Good point, I will have my Sony DSC-P9 to take pictures with and it would be nice to have a laptop to download them off the camera...I had a freakin laptop but a Compaq Presario 1650 doesn't count! I gave that POJunk to my mom two years ago!
Wait, I'm getting a headache from all the bad Presario memories...what was I thinking, ThinkPad...Vaio Grrr should of got one of those!
Anyway, thanks for the input and I'll be sure to find time for the whale watching and I'll let you know how it goes. I plan on loading up all my memory sticks with as many pictures as I can!
No hotels = no chance for data ports...we got a time share cottage on the beach...ugh...why can't I just enjoy nature like normal people! I used too..I know why, it's the **** internet and **** computers!

Har-har-har. :)
Rob,
I hear ya. Me and my g/f are both in the environmental field. Although recently I find more and more of my time in a dark room with the soft glow of an LCD monitor. Hehe.
Have fun. Last week, the weather was great except for a small storm we ran into on the way back from whale watching.
P-Town was bumping, but was only there for the afternoon. If you're up in that area, there is a drive-in on Rt. 6 in Wellfleet. It was a good time...I think they are playing Pirates of the Caribbean, which was awesome to see on a screen that big.
