Win 2000 Boot & plextor CDRW

I made a win 2k boot disk and then copied it to a cd.When I try to boot with my plextor cdrw it hangs.It also hangs when I try to boot from the win 2k cd,this is while I am using a western digital HD.Also I noticed that my cd rom is not recognized.When I installed the maxtor HD I booted off the cd.
Plextor is set as "Mastor" on the secondary EIDI and the HD is "Mastor" on the primary EIDI.

Any suggestions

I just recently built my first PC and I had a similar problem when I tried to install the OS. If I understand you correctly, you said you made a CD of the Win 2k boot disk. If you have the Full OS on a CD as well, you don't need this boot disk. Just set your bios to boot from your Plextor, and put the Win2k disk in there and it should boot up. When it boots from the OS disk, it loads all of the stuff that the boot disk had.

I hope that works for you. Of course, I may not have understood your problem the right way either. Maybe someone else could provide more insight.

This worked when I installed the Maxtor drive,I booted from the WIN 2K cd using the cd-rom.When I installed the Western Digital Drive it would not boot from the CD-RW or CD-ROM.I then made the boot disk off the Maxtor drive and then booted the Western Digital drive and instlalled the OS.The boot disk,made onto cd, is not recognized.
