Please help!! I used Cakewalk 9 last night. This morning I can't even open the program. I get an error that says "cwpa.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows"

I even tried reinstalling Cakewalk. I have Win 2000.

Then, I got the exact same message but with "explorer.exe"

Does anyone have any ideas??? Evil virus!!???

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, heidi

If you have rebooted recently, I would suspect a virus or spyware gone mad. Go to www.lavasoft.de and get Ad-Aware. Scan for bugs too.

Bipolar bill, you have bailed me out on numerous occasions. Thanks, but the ad aware didn't work. I still cannot open Cakewalk without a program error??????????!!!

Very Frustrated!!

Have you tried uninstalling Cakewalk, rebooting and reinstalling? Have you scanned for viruses or not?

If you don't tell me, I can't know - can I?

Yes, I have done all I can think of. Unistalled, reboot, reinstall, scanned for viruse. Ad-aware, spynuker, defrag, scan program for virus.

I am at a loss.... h

Boot from the Win2K CD and repair. Do not use the Recovery Console.

Mr. Bipolar, I am so sorry to bother you with my stupidity, but I have the cd, but I am not sure how to run the repair.

Could you send me someplace for instruction?

Thanks, h
