I am going thru a divorce and my kids use computer games in 2 locations, My place and hers.

They don't like toting the CDs back and forth because my soon to be ex is giving them a hard time about bringing anything to my place.

Would it be illegal to copy the discs once so that they can use them at my place without bringing them each time. Since these are things I have little interest in it is not like the software would ever be in use in 2 places at once or anything

Does anyone know?

Thanks in advance
Bruce

In my opinion, I would say that is illegal. The software license is for a single system only. The fact of being installed on two seperate systems would be illegal, wouldn't it?

This would be like having a copy of Windows installed in your office and another copy installed at home. You wouldn't be using them both simutaneously, but would still be breaking the licenze agreement.

However, I have my own definition for piracy as you can read here (http://www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/014528.html)

I don't think you will have a problem... but unfortunately NDC and Jim9999 are right. But I will say to you bdunn, if you do copy these games, you won't be the only person to do so :x

Mrbaseball is right on the money..
It is illegal, but once again you wouldn't be the first person to do it ..

(Of course that doesn't make it right..)
It's just your decision, use your best judgement.

Do it with my blessing. In your case, I see nothing serious wrong at all.

It depends on the license for each piece of software. Some software can be installed on multiple machines as long as it is not in use at the same time, some is to be installed on only one machine, and so on.

The answer is... what does the license say for each?
