I have an Iwill KK266 and 2 128MB DIMMs. One of the screw holes next to the DIMM 0 slot in my case doesn't line up with the hole on the motherboard and I have to remove a brass standoff and leave that hole without a screw. I'm not even going to try to install a DIMM in DIMM 0 because I'm worried about bending the motherboard too much that I might crack the motherboard. I'm only using the DIMM 1 and DIMM 2 slots because the area of the DIMM 0 slot has poor support. I really can't afford a new case right now. Am I sacrificing stability by not installing my first stick in DIMM 0?

I have never noticed a difference in where I placed my DIMMs. I have had about every arrangement you could have and have ahad no problems. Some motherboard manufacturers do recommend that you use DIMM bank 0/1 first and then go on to 2/3 and then 4/5 but most do not matter. I have had a similar problem with poor support ont he mobo under the RAM slots on some systems, and I just put a temp backing behind the mobo to support it while I install the RAM. Often I even put my fingers behind it (after discharging any static electricity) to support it. Not exactly the optimal situation but it works.
Good luck
