I have recently upgraded my ram from 128megs pc100 to 256 megs pc133. My motherboard recognizes and supports this speed and amount of ram. However I noticed at least 2 of my games now run slower. Does anyone know why this would happen or how I can fix it.
My system: Pentium 3 733
cusl2-c motherboard
"256 megs pc133 ram"
Viper 770ultra(12.41Viddriver)
Nothing is overclocked
Thanks

Did you replace nonECC ram with ECC RAM? - Perhaps the error checking is slowing you down -
do you have a dual bus on that system? A dual bus works best with an even system frequency which 133 isn't - have you tried cranking it back down to 100 mhz just to see if that would make a difference?
You didn't "mix" the old & new RAM did you?
That's all that comes to mind at the moment.

Regular PC100 sticks often have CAS of 2, when PC133 uses CAS3, I don't know if that could cause performance drop in few games, but it worth checking, enable all memory setting in BIOS for 2T/5T, or lower as possible.
Besides, what are the games you have trouble with ?

I don't know if I have a dual bus on my system. I did not mix old and new ram. The 2 games I had trouble with were Rogue squadron and Midtown madness.
Thanks.
