Hi there! My problem is this...

[My basic setup]
My PC #1: Belkin Wireless Desktop Network Card / Win98SE
PC #2: Belkin Wireless Desktop Network Card / Win98SE

Motorola SB5100 Cable Modem:
Connected to cable wire and another wire that connects to the Netgear Wireless Router

Netgear Wireless Router:
Shares the wire with the modem

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Both PCs use Network Cards to "tap" into the router.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

PC #1 gets frequent lost internet connections although Netgear's icon in the system tray reports an excellent signal. PC #1 is only about 1 meter from the router. [PROBLEM]

PC #2 is more than 6 meters away from the router but it will never lose internet connections.

I've installed MS Service Pack 1 to update my Win98SE and I've ran ipconfig /all to check my IP addresses (IP: 192.168.x.x / Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0) so I figured they are normal.

My PC still faces minor lost connections and I'm at a loss right now. Please advise... thanks a lot.

Get a piece of network analyzer software or try to get a list from logs about the type of network error - check system logs and app logs in case its your os thats the problem.

you have to try an isolate the problem if you know its not the os then

try another wireless card - the one from the working pc
that should rule the card in or out

my guess would be pc OS faulty or wireless card not seating right , damaged aerial or card - try plugging into into another card slot if you have one
