I have a mic and wanted to stuff around recording sound bits to send in e-mails and such can any one suggest a good prog for this I'm using incredimail at the moment and this will let you send recordings but the quality is shocking,i just want something that will be clear or that i can mess around with with effects.

Eh, why not just use windows sound recoder and encode to the quality you want (for smaller size). Mic quality is low always. Line in is much better.

If you download Eudora, it comes with a little thing called "Pure voice" that is for exactly what you're talking about. At least the 3.06 version does.
I didn't in any way want to make you feel lame =I
But the line in is in your sound card and it captures stereo sound at higher quality than mic. Just plug the mic into that and start sound recorder, select line in from recording options and voila, you'll record a wav file. And then, if you wish to send it, encode it, with using eg. lame to say 96kb/sec and you can put 5minutes of chatting into 3mb. Attach the created mp3.
