Hi everybody!
I am spent. I have no more tunes to DL. I need recommendations of some good stuff please. Here are some ideas for you as well:
mix:
Massive Attack (great trance tunes)
Kruder and Dorfmeister
Metal:
Pitchshifter
Rammstein
Rock:
Jump Little Children (local band that partly made it)
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. My personal tastes are like my recommendations (mixed tunes, metal and rock) but I like anything but country. Of course this is more for everyone's enjoyment, not just mine so please fire away with recommendations.
Dave
Geez, my apologies Socal. This is the second post of mie today int he wrong forum. just a brain freeze.

I liked the Why Store a lot. There were a local band when I was in college. They had a song that made the national airwaves "Lack of Water" a few years back.
This by far wasn't one of their best songs.
Look for their old stuff. Their albums from before they signed a national contract.
Album #1 "Welcome to the Why Store"
Album #2 "Inside the Why Store"
I don't know how to describe their music, I guess a little bit of funk and groove.

I know a lot of people don't like this because it makes opunk soft but it's the best music I have heard! It's called Emo (short for emotional) and it's music it's great . If you play guitars or bass, you are going to like this even more!!!!
Some bands that are great...:
The Juliana Theory
The Get Up Kids
Yellowcard (new cd rocks--old stuff is good but not great)
and if you like acoustic, Dashboard Confessions!
If you need any other, post a reply..

Well, I need to put a word in for a band from Minnesota known as Left Foot Blue. They've released two albums, and I love it. I could make some tunes available for you on Napster if you set up a time with me. Their music is hard to define to a genre. If anything, I would put a bar rock label on them, but even that is not accurate.

Well, I don't know what is mainstream and what isn't, and I really don't care, but...
Sentenced is a good metal band.
Their new stuff (Crimson album) is great, and their older stuff is good too.
Different styles between new and old.

my favorite band right now is Cold (*not Coldplay that sings Yellow*). They have been around awhile but have really awesome stuff. I dl'ed their latest album and I like every song on it and you know how rare it is to find a CD where you like every song on it.

Brian Eno-David Byrne
My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts
I just looked at the cd cover and cant believe this album is 20 years old. It sounds as current as the day I bought it. Of course it was on audio cassette first then repurchased on cd.
Definitly give this album a listen.

I suggest some of these bands:
AFI (punk rock, some influence by the Misfits)
Arlibido (Canadian something or other, really quite catchy)
Less Than Jake (need I say more)
NOFX (more great punk)
Supergiant (a little Baltimore punk band)
Suicide Machines - their first album (Destruction by Definition)
Also, I'm a big fan of Lords of Acid
So, look for SEV, they do a great rap-core show
And, look for "40 oz to Freedom" by Sublime
Happy Hunting,
Jason

Oh, I think Rage Against the Machine will still rock. They are going to come back out with the old Soundgarden lead singer. They already ghave 20 songs and are headed to the studio. His name escapes me now though.

Try anything by a group called WEEN. They are the first group that I've heard in a long time that has some truly different stuff out there. One of their better albums is THE MOLLUSK.

well dave, thx for giving it a listen. I'm not sure what other songs are available at the website, but if you can listen to a song on the king of the ring album called "everyday change"... that's probably my favorite song to play
good luck!

Yeah, im sure the new Rage (or wahtever there new name will be, i think theyre changing it) will be good,. as with Zack's solo stuff, but i doubt either could beat the Zack De La Rocha / Tom Morello Combination.
Let me add The Unoin Underground (NuMetal) and Gomez (Indie) to the list while im here.
Interesting to find annother Lamb fan, they dont seem to be all that popular, but then again my freind who i borrowed the cd from heard them on mtv2.

Here's some stuff I recommend:
-Dire Straits. Great guitar play and lyrics. I haven't found anything else quite like this.
-Foo Fighters. I guess it's a bit more mainstream, but their music rocks.
-Jamiroquai. The make funk/disco music, but they also made a few reggae songs. Again, there's nothing quite like what they make.

I know they aren't mainstream over here but i'm not sure bout the states - Stereophonics (ok take the pi$$, i can take it!!). Also Travis.
They both make inoffensive music that anyone can listen to.

Hey Ritalin you like Good Charlotte also. I didn't know if they were heard much outside the D.C.,Maryland, Virginia area. I took my son to see them play At the WHFS Nutcracker Christmas concert last year. It was my sons first concert and Good Charlotte put on a excelent show. Green Day, Fuel,Moby, Disturbed and Lifehouse also played. Green Day was great but Good Charlotte was the next best band playing that night IMHO.

If you are into the college/frat rock scene (like Jump Little Children) then definitely check out Weekend Excursion. They are probably the biggest band in the Carolinas right now. They just did a Budweiser commercial that aired on Friends last week. They have also been on shows like Dawson's Creek and such. Another awesome local to NC is the John Dupree band. Amazing voice and jamming acoustics.

3. Ultraspank (awesome band with lots of potential. You could call it a metal version of emo core... try "5" and "stuck")

11. Static-x (yea yea yea, there sorta mainstream.... listen to "this is not" and "Burning inside" {awesome ministry cover!})
12. Happy 2b hardcore series (Mad fast and crazy rave music....when NY underground is just too slow for ya)
