Although I just built a new K6-2 450 system 2 months ago, if I were to go hog wild, I'd grab an Athlon 600 w/256Mb RAM (minimum) and all the peripherals MrEd outlined. About the only thing I'd add to the list would be the fastest CD writer I could find. Ahhh, only in my dreams... :-)

Well. Way below the Crays but well above the mainstream, you may want to look at Intergraph's PCs and Workstations. The Z series are nice. The ones with the Wildcats are nicer.

Actually they are all nice.

Money aside, I like Mr Ed system but I would add hot swap features and some form of fault tolerance(raid hardware not software) in case of a crash. The Athlon can be used in a dual processor motherboard in an enterprise version of the chip.Of course, I would add Windows Nt 2000 and Linux or Beos as operating systems. Bleeding Edge, nice taste!I guess I need to send a Christmas' list to Santa.

Humm... money aside... well:
- Intel Machine:
Full Tower Case ATX
Dual PIII - the hightest in MHz, the best
1Gb Mb SDRam
Raid 5 disk sub-system with 3 IBM 18ZX
Adaptec ARO-1130U2 RAID controller with 64Mb
Matrox G400 MAX
SBLive full
Plextor 40x SCSI2 CDROM
Pionner A303 6x SCSI DVD-ROM
Yamaha 6/4/16 CD-RW
Sony 24" Trinitron super wide monitor
Logitech Cordless Desktop Solution
No speakers ==> linked to my mega-super HIFI

Same as above except for:
Dual Athlon, lots of MHz

I think that I would go for Athlon... still need to make up my mind, and win the lottery...
